LOBOS CHALK UP 12 TO 6 UPSET WIN
PORT ARTHUR - Dick Miller, fleet-footed ball carrying wizard of the Longview Lobos, broke loose in the closing moments of the game here tonight to give the East Texas eleven a 12-6 upset victory over the Port Arthur Yellow Jackets. The contest was played before approximately 7,000 fans.

Miller's run, a 25-yard trek, came after the Lobos had repulsed a Jacket threat on their own 20 yard line and then slowly worked their way down the field on punt exchanges and costly Jacket fumbles. Cantrell's try for point was blocked.

Both elevens scored their first touchdowns in the opening minutes of the game.

Port Arthur took the kickoff and marched 65 yards to the score. The march saw two long runs by Mike Frisco and Billy Steussy, with R.L. Broussard plunging the final two.

Longview took the Jacket kickoff and steamrolled to its six-point, a 15-yard pass from Miller to Cantrell climaxing a 55-yard drive.

The Jackets made a serious threat to score in the closing seconds of the first half, a 38-yard pass, Steussy to Hawthorne, placing the ball on the Lobo 17 as the half ended.

Port Arthur had nine first downs to eight for the visitors.
