TURNOVERS GALORE IN LOBO VICTORY
TYLER - Two lost fumbles and a 1-for-6 start for Longview quarterback Damion Lewis hindered the Lobos in the first half of Thursday's Class 5A Division II Region II bi-district football playoff against Dallas W.T. White. Longview's defense, as it has much of the season, picked up the slack.

Longview forced five W.T. White turnovers, including four interceptions, and held the Longhorns to 171 total yards of offense as the Lobos advanced to the area round of the Region II playoffs with a 34-3 win at Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium.

The Lobos (10-1) will take on either Wylie or South Garland in the next round of the playoffs. Those two teams meet at 1 p.m. Saturday at Texas Stadium.

W.T. White completed just 2 of 17 passes in the second half as the Longview defensive front applied more and more pressure as the game went on. The secondary reaped the dividends. Dontray Nelson picked off two passes, including one he turned into a 10-yard return for a touchdown that put Longview up 24-3 and virtually ended the competitive portion of the game.

Carziel Martin broke up five passes and picked off another, and Jon Writt grabbed the Lobos' other interception.

The five fumbles kept the Longview offense from hitting on all cylinders, but the Lobos still gained 464 total yards, including 349 on the ground. Johnny Garrett gained 140 yards on 12 carries and scored on runs of 2 and 40 yards, while Mark Johnson added nine rushes for 71 yards.

Lewis finished 7-for-18 for 115 yards as Travrus Brown was hit big-play receiver. Brown caught three passes for 73 yards.

Zach Decker had a solid performance, hitting field goals of 38 and 29 yards and finishing a perfect 4-for-4 on extra-point attempts. Decker added a 55-yard punt that the Longview coverage unit downed inside W.T. White's 1-yard line.

The next play, W.T. White quarterback Zach Tally scrambled around the back of the end zone before firing a pass that went through receiver Michael Beach's hands and into Nelson's grasp. Nelson took it in from 10 yards out to put Longview up 24-3 with 8:20 left in the third quarter.

The next two Longhorn possessions ended in Longview picks.

Garrett added his 48-yard touchdown run with 21 seconds left in the third to put the Lobos up 31-3. Nelson got his second pick, and Longview's fourth and final interception, of the game on the fourth quarter's first play, giving the Lobos first down at W.T. White's 35-yard line.

Four plays later Decker added a 29-yard field goal to give Longview its 31-point victory margin with 9:52 left in the game.
