LOBOES GO DOWN IN DEFEAT TO ATHENS 32-6
ATHENS - The Loboes were unable to hold the Athenians last Friday, October 8th, and went down in defeat at the East Texas Cotton Place at Athens 32 to 6. The fatal blow came in the fourth quarter when the Loboes were slaughtered and there were no substitutes to replace the men knocked out.

In the first quarter, Athens scored after Barrow got off a bad punt. The ball was returned to the three-yard line. There, Bradshaw of Athens pushed it over. Their attempt for point after failed.

In the second quarter, the Loboes kicked off to Athens where Meredith, Lobo guard, downed the opponent on his 40-yard line. After two unsuccessful plays Bradshaw, Athens quarterback, fumbled the ball, which was picked up by Barlow who ran 45 yards for a touchdown. The try for extra point failed.

In the third quarter, several punts were exchanged and then Jimmie Kilts, Athens coach, sent in a substitute who called a conference after the first down. After this conference, it seemed easy for the Athenians as it seemed there was anever a played when there wasn't at least three Lobo players knocked out, which proved fatal to the Loboes for they had no substitutes.

In the fourth quarriers, Athens score four touchdowns. The Loboes seemed to have no punch, for Goodwin and McGowan were carried from the field on account of injuries received.

Coach Wilkinson said he was pleased by the fight the Loboes put up, and that he believed the changes made in the lineup have insured a sure district championship club.
