LONGVIEW HIGH WINS FROM HENDERSON HI
HENDERSON - Longview High School football team defeated Henderson High School yesterday in Henderson, 13 to 7, i a hard fought game. Longview was seriously handicapped by the loss of Cricket White, halfback and safety man, who was declared ineligible Thursday afternoon. The loss of White upset Coach Wilkinson's lineup and he was compelled to shift Lawrence from guard to half at the last moment and send Jones, quarterback, to safety, a place where he had never played before.

The game featured by the fight that the Longview team put up against a heavier and more experienced team and the fact that they were playing in Henderson. Longview outplayed Henderson during the entire game, except for a few minutes in the third quarter when Bridges got loose for Henderson's touchdown. Except for this period, Longview held Henderson and stopped Bridges in his tracks.

Bridges is by far the best player there is in East Texas this year. He starred for Henderson although playing with a poor charging line and with a quarterback who failed to show one bit of generalship, continually passing in the shadows of his own goal instead of punting out of danger.

The whole Longview team played football with Claude Morgan's work standing out in the line. Gunn also played a stellar game in the line.

The passing of Jones and the receiving of Sutton and Rembert moved the ball in scoring distance for Longview, one touchdown being made after Rembert had received a pass and ran to the one-yard line before being tackled.

Another touchdown came from a pass from Jones to sutton over the goal line. The punting of Lawrence stood out as he punted an average of 50 yards. Rembert got loose around end for a gain of forty yards at one time.

The Longview team played real football and except for weakness at two ends showed real championship calibre.

The lineup follows:
Morgan, center; Morgan and Gunn, guards; McHaney and Barker, tackles; Rembert and Rowan, ends; Jones, quarterback; Lawrence and Meredith, halves; Sutton, fullback; substitutes, Covin for Barker, third quarter. Referee, Dunn, A&M.

Longview High School plays Gilmer here next Friday in the final game of the season on the home lot. Come out and help us get revenge for the game that we lost at Gilmer earlier in the season. Longview High has won seven gams this season, lost two and tied one. Come out and help us win another one.
