LONGVIEW BREAKS EVEN FOR SEASON
LONGVIEW - Winning the game by a score of 34 to 14 from Troup High here yesterday, the Longview High eleven barely broke even on its season's schedule. the final game yesterday brings the standing of the team to eleven games played, five won and five lost and one scoreless tie.

The greatest fault of the team, it has been pointed out, is that away from the home ground there is a lack of fighting spirit that is necessary to win a hard-contested game.

Longview High defeated Henderson here in one game, but two weeks later, Henderson defeated Longview 50 to 0 in Henderson. The ratio has not been so ludicrous in very game that's been lost but the loss has been attributed to a lack of fighting spirit in each instance.

In the game yesterday, Kelly, White, Sutton and McHaney were the star players, Kelly using what the coaches said was real headwork and continually plugging at the defensive line until he had broken through it and netted a considerable gain.

The game was a clean one and was marked by good playing on both elevens. Troup's halfbacks were particularly good. Longview played a fast game during the first three quarters, but in the last, as usual, the team began to slow up and use less effort to check the advances of the visitors.

It was in this quarter that Troup did its best work. They got through with two touchdowns and brought the score from nothing to 14. Had this occurred in the first quarter, Longview probably would have been beaten to a frazzle, the coaches said.

The coaches of the local team were Smith and Wilkinson. Preston Allison refereed the game.
