LONGVIEW-GILMER TIE 0-0
GILMER - Both Longview and Gilmer failed to score in the game played on Gilmer's field yesterday. The referee conceded that Gilmer outplayed the locals but that the fierce playing of the home boys prevented the country lads from scoring.

The quarters were limited to twelve and one-half minutes. Besides being shy five of the regular players, the local team that played Gilmer was not overly familiar with the signals and fumbles were made on two or three occasions.

Three of the local men were hurt during the game but remained in it to the end. Heinemann, playing right half, received a bruised shoulder in the first quarter. Kelly at quarterback also had his ear lacerated in a tackle. McCreary, fullback, had a finger knocked out of place in the second quarter when he stiff armed Gilmer's fullback.

In the first quarter Longview kicked off. Gilmer made the first down and another first down before the end of the quarter. The ball was over and Longview started a series of line plunges and passes that failed to materialize.

The second, third and fourth quarters were virtually without features except for the straight football. Sutton, left end, Jones, right end, and McHaney, right guard, were the stars of the day. Aside from good line work by these three, they starred in the tackles.

Killingsworth, right tackle, covered a couple of fumbles in the last half. Lawrence did some good work in opening up Gilmer's line for Longview's tackles. England also opened holes through Gilmer's lines which were not sufficient to allow Longview to score but nevertheless prevented Gilmer from scoring. Kelly and Rembert made some good end runs but not much was gained from that.

The next game the locals will play will be with Troup here next Friday. Following that Longview will play at Texarkana on October 28th.

Only two substitutes were used in the game with Gilmer yesterday. Shoults was substituted for Lawrence and Gunn for Shouts in the last half.
