LONGVIEW RALLY SHORT IN FINAL TWO PERIODS
DENISON - The Denison Yellowjackets poured on the cal in the first half here tonight to score three touchdowns while riddling the Longview Lobos' line and the lead was enough to withstand a last half surge, and won 26 to 20.

The Wolves looked ragged in spots, offside penalties hurting them on several plays, but they uncorked a sparkling offense in the last half that came close to overtaking the coasting Yellowjackets.

The Lobos, as was the case last week, probably dropped enough passes that were hung on a peg for them to have won the ball game.

The Jackets didn't waste much time in scoring. They took the opening kickoff and returned it to their own 28 from where they scored in1 5 plays, ripping the middle of the Lobo line at will. The fleet Jacket backs, Borum and Bretches, alternated in reeling off big gains. It was all on short runs but it all added up to a touchdown with Bretches taking a handoff from Borum to rifle through right guard for the score. The Jackets scored early in the second on a 68-yard drive that was also uninterrupted. THey took a kick on their own 34 and moved al the way with a 12-yard pass from Borum to Bill Herridge paying off for the touchdown.

That set things up for the Wolves to pull one out of the hat and get back in the game. Billy Dodson picked up the kickoff on the 19, cut to his right to the opposite sideline and behind beautiful blocking, which he picked up around the Lobo 40, went all the way for a touchdown. Barnes converted and the Lobos then trailed 12 to 7.

Only 18 seconds remained in the first half when Denison scored their third touchdown, Borum scoring from the 5. Morgan converted and the score stood 19 to 7 at the half.

In the third quarter, the Lobos staged a long drive but it bogged down on the 10 with a fumble which Denison recovered. The Jackets then went 90 yards with Howard Minor carrying it the last five to score.

Morgan converted again.

Late in the fourth quarter the Wolves marched 72 yards for their second touchdown. Starting from the 28, Crawford and Parker alternated on the throwing with Dodson and Parked doing the catching to move the ball deep into Denison territory. A holding penalty against Denison set them back to the one and Crawford carried it over. Barnes converted.

With 26 seconds left Crawford powered inside left end for two yards and another score after a Denison fumble had been recovered by the Lobos on the Jackets' 20.

But that was it, and it wasn't enough.
