SCORELESS GAME PLAYED YESTERDAY
LONGVIEW - Marshall High and Longview High played a scoreless tie in Longview on Thanksgiving day before a large crowd in which there was a good representation of Marshall people. The game was featured by hard playing on the part of both teams. Marshall expected to win, and by the record of the ground gained, should've done so.

A number of times the visiting eleven carried the ball to within striking distance of the goal, only to lose it on a fumble or some other break of luck.

On the other hand, only once did Longview come near scoring and that was near the end of the second quarter. The Longview team has strengthened up since the game in Marshall several weeks ago, having several new men in the lineup.

But the only way they could run on the Marshall eleven was by straight bucks through the line.

For Longview, Smith at fullback starred. His work was high class on both offense and defense, and marks him for a great player in the future. This is his first season with the first team.

For Marshall, every man played a hard, consistent game. Will Rogers at left end was there every second, and pulled down two forward passes which looked impossible for good gains. Captain Brown played his usual steady game at center, while Chase Adams had the Longview players worried all the time by his runs around end and his return of punts.

Quarterback Mason an the team well. He once intercepted a forward pass and ran through a broken field for 29 yards and missed making a touchdown only by a narrow point. Burford at fullback was better than in previous game and Emory Adams at left half ran the ball went and dropped his opponents on interference better than most. In fact the interference of the Marshall backfield, which has been miserable all season, showed up fairly well in this game.

The Marshall team will close the season with a game against the strong Alexander Collegiate Institute at Tee-Pee Park on December 8th. A record-breaking crowd is expected at this game and the Marshall team is determine to close the season with a victory, although their opponents will be one of the best academy teams in the state.
