LOBOS LEAD IN STATISTICS, BUT LOSE TO ADAMSON
LONGVIEW - The Adamson Leopards ran wild on Friday in an offensive spree in the final non-district clash of the season for the Lobos, as the Leopards scored 25 points, which was too much to overcome in the last half for the upset minded Longview Lobos, who tallied just 9.

The powerful Lobos led in every one of the statistics except the score column. They gained 193 yards passing to 133 for the visitors, had eight first downs to seven for the winners and had 8 yards rushing to 4 for the visitors.

The Lobos opened their bag of tricks wide open and presented a challenge, despite the one-sided scoreline. Longview attempted 39 tosses and the Leopards tried 20 passes into the ozone during the contest.

The Leopards, stymied at every rush they attempted, tried to use their vaunted running attack, ended up splitting the pass defense wide open in the second quarter to rack up two touchdown passes, one on an 30-yard aerial and another on a 65-yard attempt. They also intercepted a Longview pass for their 25-point total.

The inexperienced home team fired up their offense in the last quarter and chalked up a touchdown on a 58-yard pass play from Fox Cashell to Don Barton, Coach Maco Stewart's outstanding offensive stars for the night, and collected two more points when they nabbed Billy Rose, Leopard back, behind his own after he attempted to run with an Adamson fumble.

With the exception of the wild second quarter the Lobos fought the Leopards on even terms and roundly outplayed them in the final minutes of the contest.

After a scoreless first quarter, Sandy blocked an attempted Lobo quick kick and recover on the Longview 19-yard line as the second quarter opened. Bobby Bracke, Adamson aerial artist, then tossed a pass to Gandy in the end zone for the score. Try for the extra point was wide.

After an exchange of kicks, a few minutes later little Jimmy Sneed broke around his own lot end and danced through a host of would-be Lobo tackler to race 35 yards for the Leopards' second marker. Walker converted to make the score 13 to 0.

After the kickoff, Walker intercepted one of Cashell's tosses on his own 45 and raced 65 yards untouched for the third touchdown. Try for point was again wide, making the score 19 to 0.

Bracke opened up with another aerial attack after the Leopards regained possession of the ball again and marched from the Lobo 49 to the Lobo 14 where he connected with Harris in the end zone for their final counter. Try for extra point was low.

Don Barton, who turned in a stellar performance at his halfback posted, almost added another counter to the Wolves' score in the fading minutes of the game, with a 50-yard runback of the kickoff after the safety, Little Don raced through the entire Leopard team in a dazzling hipper-dipper scat from his 30-yard marker to the Adamson 15 before being caught from behind.

Longview attempted 39 passes, completed nine, had 27 incomplete and three intercepted. Adamson tried 20 aerials, completed 11, had eight incomplete and one intercepted. The Leopards completed 10 of 14 attempts in the first half.

Longview had eight first downs to seven for the winner.
