LOBOS ROUGH UP TEXARKANA, 45-0
TEXARKANA - The Lobos were not looking as good as usual at Texarkana Friday, and the cold of the Border City's night stiffened fingers to cause fumbling and pass dropping, but all was going good enough for Longview to easily tally win number five, 45-0, over Texarkana at the Tigers' home field.

Blakeley and Dunaway got on the ball for five counters, Blakeley carrying three and Dunaway a pair. Aycock pitched a pass to Pie and then scored himself in the final minutes of the one-sided contest.

The Lobos had gain after gain and a pair of tallies called back when the team got the clipping fever, 14 penalties were called against the pack for 115 yards. The Tigers were offside once for their only foul.

The Lobos rolled up a total of 219 yards gained on the turn in the first half, and ended it all with a 365 gain by rushing. All this was good for 10 first downs. The Cats managed the first first down of the contest but only added one more all the rest of the game and could gain but 25 yards by ground play.

Longview kicked off to the Tigers. On the third play of the game Tanner tallied a first down on their 44 stripe. Stopped there, he punted to the Lobo 44. Blakeley and Dunaway started a new set of downs on the Cat 42. From there, Blakeley scampered the distance to the goal off right tackle. Conversion failed and Longview was on top 6-0.

After the kick the Tigers lost 13 yards on two plays, punted to the Lobos on their 48. Bivins picked up nine yards, then Blakeley aired to Gammon who was downed on the eight yard line. The Texarkana line suddenly snapped to life and in two tries Longview had retreated to the 19, and finally lost control of the pigskin on the six.

With the end of the first period the Lobos were en-route again, and the first play of quarter two saw Blakeley end a 35 yard hit with a 19 yard scamper, and a thrilling one, over the goal. Grigg's place kick split the uprights and the scoreboard said 13-0, Lobos.

The greater portion of the second quarter was penalty and pass failure. Both squads took to the air with almost nil results. Blakeley intercepted a long Tiger aerial and carried it to the Cat 22, but penalties and pass failing left the ball to Texarkana. Near the end of the period it was Blakeley again, and his best open field running of the season, for 72 yards and the goal to have it called back for clipping. This must have disturbed Bivins, for on the next play he blasted his way for 61 yards, finally being downed on the 9. Two plays ended a yard short, with Blakeley getting that. Grigg converted, making it 20-0.

The first series of downs in the last half saw Dunaway, Bivins and Dunaway again go for 67 yards and a score. Dunaway circling wide around the flank for the tally.

Texarkana tried but failed and punted to Bivins. He grabbed the hide and hustled 46 yards down the gridiron, running out of bounds on the 15. Bivins went again to the two before Dunaway went just right of center for the score. Grigg's kick was good - 33-0.

Downs were exchanged. Then the Lobos recovered on the Cats 18. Aycock fired a pass to Poe, who trotted into the end zone. 39-0.

A few plays later Aycock picked up a bouncing punt and carried ti back 43 yards only to have clipping annul the run. Blakeley took a Texarkana pass to the Tigers 30. Acycock rifled a pass to Brown, who was dropped in his tracks on the four. Dunaway blasted over the goal and all he got was clipping again, and 15 yards of penalty. The Lobos lost the downs on the three yard line.

Less than two minutes remained, after Texarkana tried all they had up their sleeves to no avail, when Aycock tossed a pass good for 34 yards to Dill on the three. It took two plays for Aycock to skim the right side of the final goal. 45-0. The same score that the Kilgore team ran up last week.

Next Friday the Bulldogs meet Longview here. Beaten soundly but not outplayed as badly as the score indicates by Marshall, 47-7. Kilgore promises to be the toughest that the Lobos have tried. It was flash and pass that set the Bulldogs running at Marshall. Just too much fancy play.

Tyler whipped Gladewater as expected, 20-0, while Athens rebounded from Lobo treatment to defeated Jacksonville, 20-7.
