LONGVIEW HIGH UPSET BY KILGORE, 14 TO 7
KILGORE - Milltant Kenneth (Country) Hallmark, Bulldog field general, led Kilgore High School to a 14-to-7 triumph over a favored Longview team here Friday Night before more than 7,500 fans.

Hallmark put a Frank Merriwell finish on the game when, with twelve second to play, he fought his way through the Lobos for thirty yards and a touchdown that broke a 7-to-7 tie. Fullback Arthur Harn started the winning play by plunging across the line of scrimmage and lateraling to Hallmark.

It was Hallmark's eighteen-yard pass to halfback Joe McGuffin that brought Kilgore into a tie with Longview as the third period closed. Hallmark kicked both extra points.

The Lobos had the best of everything in the first half, holding Kilgore completely. The Bulldogs came back, however, and played inspired football.

Don Fambrough, spark plug of the Lobo eleven, left the game in the third quarter with an injured shoulder, and Longview didn't seem the same after that. Fambrough's line smashing helped the Lobos engineer a sixty-three yard touchdown march in the second period. The score came as T.A. Scott heaved a short pass to end Howard McDonald. Fambrough converted.

The Bulldog line, with center Luther Terry and captain Tom Collins, tackle, standing out, held the Lobos in check just about as successfully during the last half as Longview held Kilgore in the first half.

Kilgore had eight first downs to six for Longview.

The Bulldogs threw seventeen passes, eight of which were completed for sixty-five yards, two intercepted and seven incomplete. Eight of sixteen Longview passes were good for sixty yards, one being intercepted and seven incomplete.

The Bulldogs kicked eleven times for an average of thirty-three yards, while seven Lobo punts averaged thirty-nine yards. Kilgore was penalized twenty yards to fifteen for Longview. The Bulldogs gained 143 yards from scrimmage and lost thirteen rushing. The Lobos gained seventy-three yards rushing, losing twelve.
