LONGVIEW WINS 20-0 OVER NORTH SIDERS
LONGVIEW - The Longview Lobos scored a touchdown in each of the last three quarters on some sweet passing and running plays to throttle North Side's Steers, 20-0 here Friday night.

The Wolves' defense was given a good working over in the entire last half but it managed to stave off two sustained drives short of scores.

When Edgar Boorman, hard-running North Side quarterback, fumbled on an attempted fourth down kick in the second period, the Lobos swarmed him and took over on the Steer 44.

Right there they started a drive that culminated in a beautifully forward-lateral pass, T.A. Scott to Billy Richardson to Don Fambrough, netted 19 yards and a touchdown. Fambrough added the extra point for a 7-0 half-time lead.

In the third period, Boorman kicked to Murray who returned to North Side's 45. Fambrough picked up 15 and Murray made another first down on the Steer 20.

In three plays, Fambrough gained another first on the 10. And four plays later Fambrough carried it over for the second Lobo touchdown. His conversion was wide. Longview then led, 13-0.

Longview's final score came on a beautiful exhibition of blocking by the entire Longview team.

Backed to the 1-yard line by Scott's great quick kick that went out there, Boorman kicked to Murray, who took it on the North Side 35 and raced to his left down the sideline for a touchdown - 35 yards without a hand being laid on him.

Fambrough then scooped up a bad pass from center way back on the North Side 20 and plowed through the entire Steer team for a point conversion.

With two down and eight to go, the Longview Lobos this week will get down to the task of turning out something they have not been able to accomplish since their championship year in 1937: A victory over Tom Dennis' Port Arthur Yellow Jackets.

The powerful South Texas crew will come here for a renewal of the clubs' series Friday night and unless a tie results the teams' .500 average with each other should be altered.

Thus far, in three meetings, the teams each have one win, one loss and one tie to their credit.

Back in '37, the Wolves spotted the Jackets a 6-0 lead and throttled them 12-6 by virtue of a 26-yard jaunt through a broken field by Dandy Dick Miller late in the game. The next year the clubs met here and tied up, 13-13. Last year the Dennison got revenge in an 18-2 victory down in Port Arthur.
