TWO MINUTE DRILL
LONGVIEW -
LONGVIEW HEAD COACH JOHN KING

When did you know this team had the chance to be a state championship contender?

The second half of our Tyler Lee game (a 21-0 Lobo win). The players started figuring it out, and we established our identity as a football team.

Win or lose this weekend, what one thing do you hope your players take from this experience?

Appreciation for the hard work and dedication that it took to get here. It hasn't been an easy road for us, but it sure has been rewarding.

What past big-game experience (as a player or a coach) did you pass along to you players this week to help them prepare for the state championship game?

I have shared my experiences as a high school player (1985 state championship) with the team, especially the seniors. There are things that I didn't fully understand then that I've learned to cherish and I want them to enjoy this special time in their life. We take it one game at a time, because that is all we are promised.

If you team wins this weekend, who will be the first person (besides yourself) to try on your state championship ring and why?

That thought hasn't even crossed my mind...and it won't.

Where would a state championship rank on your list of the best Christmas presents. If its not No. 1, what is?

No. 1.
