DICK MILLER PULLS GO FROM FIRE
DALLAS - For the fourth time in 14 games the mighty Longview Lobos Saturday staged a great second half rally to overcome a one touchdown deficit and their performance won for them the highest honor in high school football - the championship of Texas. The Wichita Falls Coyotes, champions of North and West Texas, were their victims and the score was 19-12. Eighteen thousand persons were on hand fo the game, played under overcast skies but on a fast field.

The Lobos, finishing the season the only undefeated and untied football team in the state, turned in two long runs, with Dandy Dick Miller carrying the agate, to take the lead in the third period and finished with a third in the fading minutes of play to win as all great champions do - going away.

Longview's great finish was made possible by the fool-proof blocking of every man on the club. It got Dandy Dick in the clear twice, and when Dick gets in the open school's out.

Wichita Falls took the lead early in the ball game and followed it up with another a few minutes later to widen the gap.

A bad pass from center put the Wolves in whole, Hardy Miller recovering for a 12-yard loss on the Lobo five. Odell Damerall, the Coyotes' great center, then broke through to block Hardy's punt and Fielding Brand, Wichita guard, covered it six inches over the goal line for a touchdown. J.H. Sullivan, Lobo tackle, blocked Bill Lobban's attempt to convert and the Coyotes were out in front by 6-0.

Ted Jefferies' crew required only a few minutes to convert another break into a score later in the period. Hardy Miller fumbled and James Zachary recovered for the Black and Red boys on Longview's 15. Wichita drew a five-yard penalty for having a back in motion and on the following play Damerall pulled out of the line, took a lateral from Doyle Monaghan and passed 20 yards to bBen Collins, quarterback, for a touchdown. Wallace's kick failed again.

The Wolves came to life late in the second quarter and turned Harold Fleming's only first-half mistake into a touchdown. Fleming had kicked out fo bounds, sacrificing distance to keep the ball away from Dandy Dick all the way; but this time he elected to kick to the Lobo safety. Dick took it on his own 45 and ran down his right sideline untouched for 55 yards and a score. Cantrell's kick was good, and the halftime score was 12-7 for the Coyotes.

The third period produced nothing that threatened to change the face of the game.

But in the fourth quarter, with eight minutes to go, the Lobos got rolling again. Fleming kicked out of bounds on Longview's 43 and after Cantrell failed to gain at the middle of the line, Frank LeBus passed to Dick Miller behind the line. It was the same play with which Centenary beat Texas Christian this fall. Wichita Falls' line sifted through and the pass was a short one, with the whole Lobo line blocking the Wichita secondary, Dandy Dick cut to his right and headed for the flag in the corner. Not a hand was laid on him but Wallace nearly trapped him on the one yard line. Cantrell's kick soar and the score was 13-12 for the Lobos.
