NOBODY FEARS THE BIG BAD WOLF
WICHITA FALLS - Who's afraid of the big bad wolf (meaning the Longview Lobos)?

Not followers of the Wichita Falls Coyotes, who contest the East Texans for the championship of the Texas High school football on Christmas Day in the Dallas Cotton Bowl. The fact is realize, but not dwelt upon, that Longview matches an undefeated, untied record against a so-so season performance of the Wichitans.

Fans know that the line of their favorites will probably enjoy only a slight weight advantage for the firs time. They concede that the backfield composed of the Miller brothers, Lebus and Cantrell, has shown more brilliance than that of the Coyotes. But they don't give a hang.

Here is how they figure to win:

They depend upon the stalwart Seven Granite Walls of Wichita Falls to hold back the stoutest thrusts of Longview's powerful backs. They expected a close defensive battle to be decide by a bullet toss from Harold Fleming's pitching hand to the arms of Indian Prichard, Jack Maddox, or Ben Collins.

Such a hope as this puts the hope of Wichita Falls squarely upon the broad shoulders of the linemen, and that is where it belongs, for passes are hopeless if rushers charge in to upset the Preaching Fullback.

Wing to wing, the Coyote line serves every game practically without substitutions Jack Maddox, 177, is probably the ablest pass snagger on the team. Well over six feet tall and ace basketball player, he became a regular not he football squad late in the season when two ends were dismissed from the team for infraction of training. Verlin Prichard at the other end, a 178-pounder, is better on defense and catches his share of passes.
