LONGVIEW READY FOR CHAMPIONSHIP TUSSEL
LONGVIEW - Tomorrow is Christmas everywhere else but in Longview it's primarily the day the Lobos meet Wichita Falls in Dallas for the championship. It has been so regarded since the two clubs advanced with semifinal wins last week.

For a full week the buzz of late Christmas shopping in these environs has been drowned in the hum of excitement over the approaching championship game. It is the first time in the local school's history that the team has advanced so far, and at least a couple of thousand fans except to follow them to the game. Family circles and ties are one thing but a state championship is another, and many of the circles and ties will be broken tomorrow while rabid gridiron fans go to Dallas to see that championship either won or lost but the Lobos.

This afternoon the Wolves will complete their week of intensive work, interrupted once Wednesday by rain. The Wolves will take a light drill on the baseball field here and then rest until morning. A bus will take 32 of them to Dallas then, arriving around noon. The game starts at 2:30 p.m.m in the Cotton Bowl at the Fair Grounds.

Plans have been made for a special train to carry possibly 1,200 persons to the game. It will be run over the Texas and Pacific and will stop at the exposition grounds. Accommodations will be arranged for 1,200 but only a few hundred tickets have been sold. Officials expect a last-minute rush for tickets just before train time.

Around 2,500 persons from Longview likely will see the game. The first group of 2,200 tickets placed on sale Wednesday, didn't last the day. Another 300 good seats went on sale this morning and were not expected to hold out until the 5 p.m. deadline.
