TWO GLADEWATER GRIDMEN DECLARED OVER AGE
GLADEWATER - Tyler was at the top of the district 10 football race and the Longview Lobos were resting firmly in second place Tuesday after Gladewater high school withdrew from the race when two Bruin players were found to be ineligible Monday.

The players found to be ineligible were Ibbie McKillip, substitute halfback, and R.B. Holt, regular quarterback. Stanley Jones, regular end, is also reported to have been under question, but no official announcement as to his eligibly was made.

Violation of the age-limit rule was the cause of the ineligibilities.

The announcement of Gladewater's withdrawal from the race was made by C.N. Jarrell, athletic direction, after a meeting of Gladewater and Tyler school officials in Tyler Monday afternoon.

"Conflicting evidence was presented at the meeting in Tyler Monday afternoon in order to evade any kind of embarrassment, we withdrew from the race," the athletic director said. "Certificate are in our possession that show both McKillip and Holt to be eligible. We have found the certificates to be false, but we had no way of knowing them to be so."

Both Holt and McKillip were 20 years old before September 1, 1935, Mr. Jarrell said.

Telegrams announcing Gladewater's withdrawal from the race were sent Monday night to George Foltz, athletic director of Tyler high school, and W.H. Stillwell, chairmen of District 10, Mr. Jarrell said.

P.E. Shotwell, coach of the Longview Lobos, said Monday night that the withdrawal of Gladewater meant the changing of defeats suffered by conference teams in which either or both of the ineligible men players to victories.

That leaves Longview with one conference setback - a 19 to 7 licking at the hands of the now undefeated Tyler high school Lions.

The elimination of Gladewater left Longview with a thread of hope for the district title. If Marshall defeats Tyler and the Lobos succeed in downing the Kilgore Bulldogs Thanksgiving Day, the District 10 race will end in a deadlock. Both Longview and Tyler, however, are the heavy favorites to win, and if both teams chalk up trumps, the championship will go to Tyler.

The eligibility of Stanley Jones, first-string end, was also reported to have been under question, but no announcement was made by the Gladewater athletic director as to his status.

The standing after the withdrawal of Gladewater is as follows:

Tyler - 5-0-0 - 1.000%
Longview - 4-1-0 - .800%
Texarkana - 3-2-1 - .600%
Sulphur Springs - 2-2-1 - .500%
Marshall - 2-3-0 - .400%
Kilgore - 1-4-0 - .200%
Gladewater - 0-5-0 - .000%
