LOBOES BEAT EL DORADO ELEVEN, 7-0
LONGVIEW - Before a crowd of 4,200 persons, the Longview Loboes opened the local gridiron season here Friday night with a 7-to-0 trump over the El Dorado (ark.) Wildcats. Scoring in the first quarter, the Loboes were never stopped, and the entire game was played deep in the visitors' territory.

Longview outclassed their Arkansas opponents in every department of play and save for Saltonstall, who was almost a one-man team, the Loboes outshone the Wildcats at every position, but too much can not be said for the Saltonstall kid, a mite of a chap playing minus headgear and other protection, he was a constant threat.

To single out a Star in the Longview team would be difficult. Particularly in the backfield, where every boy sent on the field by Coach Woodman covered himself more or less with glory, but the credit must go to Durham Bivins and Bill Gordon, who were never stopped.

Jack Skipper, Jimmy Whitten and Harold Whitten also came through splendidly, as did the entire line.

Longview scored in the first nine minutes of play when a recovered fumble on the Arkansas eleven's 35-yard strip was quickly converted into a touchdown when Bivins raced around right end to the 10-yard line and then passed over the last chalk line to Jimmy Whitten for the touchdown.

Thereafter the Loboes were constantly knocking on the door of the Wildcats for another touchdown, but time and again after driving within the 10-yard area failed to muster the necessary strength to push over a counter.
