TYLER - Displaying poor defensive football, the Longview Loboes were outsmarted and outplayed in every phase of the game here today against the Tyler High Lions, last year's state champions, and they were badly defeated 60-0.
The Loboes played ace-high football the first five minutes of play but after that they were forced to stand by as the Blue and White clad Lions ran up nine touchdowns and added four extra points.
Painter and W. Harper, along with Williamson on the line, were the only Black and Gold visitors who rated comment. Painter and Harper once had a passing combination working between them in the third stage that was good five times for two first downs and gains amounting to 28 yards. Williamson made several clean tackles.
Tyler continued to show development in this, their third game of the season and issued a loud warning to the some 1,500 fans that watched the game that they will in all likelihood be in the state grid chase long after many clubs have hung their suits in the drying room for the season.
