LOBOS LEAVE NO DOUBT IN 63-0 WIN
LONGVIEW - Longview returned home after nearly a month on the road to host North Mesquite at Lobo Stadium on Friday night, and was productive enough on both sides of the ball to earn a dominant 63-0 district victory.

The Lobos will bring a 6-1 season record and a 4-0 District 7-5A Division I record to an important road game with league title implications next Friday. They have a scheduled 7 p.m. meeting with McKinney North at McKinney ISD Stadium.

The Stallions, meanwhile, will take respective 1-6 and 0-4 marks to next Thursday's 7 p.m. home district game against Forney at Mesquite Memorial Stadium.

"We played a solid football game," said Longview athletic director and head football coach John King. "We started fast. We finished fast. We did things I challenged them to do."

Longview made its presence known early because Willie Nelson intercepted North Mesquite quarterback Luke Seder's first pass of the night, and returned the pick six for an early 7-0 Lobo lead at the 11:20 mark of the first quarter.

Seder led the road team with a 5-for-11 passing performance for 15 yards, and also ran the ball four times for 13 yards, but the Lobo defense shut down the rest of North Mesquite's offense.

The Stallions stalled on five straight three-and-out possessions and 10 scoreless drives in the game, and were limited to 10 total yards of offense and one first down after Kayleb Fields, Julien Simpson, Kemaur Johnson, Eric Gillyard and Jaquaylon Carraway combined for 14 carries for -18 rushing yards.

Longview's offense then went to work when Andrew Tutt connected with Dakaylen Reese on a 42-yard touchdown pass to make it a 14-0 score with 8:23 remaining in the opening period.

Tutt completed three of his five passes for 96 yards and two touchdowns before backup Maverick Rowe took over the quarterback reins and added a late five-for-five passing performance for 50 yards. Reese finished with three receptions for 96 yards.

King decided not to play star running back Taylor Tatum due to "a precautionary deal," but Kelvin Washington made the most of an opportunity to start, and hit the ground running. He ultimately grew Longview's advantage to 28-0 after a 53-yard rushing touchdown and a goal line score between the 6:36 and 1:13 marks of the quarter, and finished the night with five carries for 128 rushing yards and a trio of scores.

Longview continued to cruise in the second period, and built up a 49-0 lead by halftime. Tutt found Reese again on a 43-yard strike, Buster Mumphrey found enough space on a 19-yard rushing touchdown, and Washington broke free again on a 58-yard touchdown run by the four-minute mark of the frame.

Mason Washington then produced a 16-yard third quarter touchdown run, and Alexx Hawkins wrapped up the game scoring with an eight-yard touchdown run at the 3:15 mark of the fourth quarter.

The Lobos' defense also made a late appearance when Thomas Roel picked off a Seder pass with 2:02 to play.
