| LONGVIEW - Finishing their best game of the season, the Longview Lobos snapped out of their losing streak of three straight games here Friday afternoon and walloped Troup 13 to 6. It was their first conference game of the year.
Confident not that they have developed a winning combination with the return in the line up of various players that had been out with injury season the season opened, the Pack, Monday, will bear down in their workouts for their next game with the Pittsburg eleven there Friday. Troup starting the scoring early in the game when, after the ball had changed hands four times, Kersh, hard playing Tigers, crashed through the boo line for two yards and the touchdown. The marker was he result of a blocked Lobo punt which was recovered by Troup on the seven-yard line. W. Foster went through the line for five yards after which Kersh went across the goal line. The try for extra point was fizzled when Meredith ripped through the Tiger line to block the attempted drop kick of Ballew. The Lobos rallied, and with Meredith arraying the ball for long gains through the line, tied the score before the end of the quarter. The try for point by a place kick failed. The game rocked along until the final quarter with neither team able to advantage the ball for an considerable gains, until Meredith and James started ripping through the Tiger's forward wall which ended in the former going over for the Lobos' second and winning touchdown. Meredith's place kick of the extra point was good. In the waning moments of the game, the Tigers, in a belated risky effort to overcome the seven point lead resorted to an air attack as their only chance of getting past the Loboes' forward defense. In the first attempt, Kersh heaved the oval to Hale, it being intercepted by Meredith on the 45 yard line. He was finally brought down on the Tigers' 30 yard line. Players carrying the greatest part of the burden for the Tigers were Kersh, Gray, Ballew, W. Foster and Jones with the former the beat ground gained of the eleven. Gray was especially strong on the defense, the Loboes being unable to penetrate the losers forward wall for any length gains until he was injured and removed from the game early in the last quarter. For the winners, Meredith stands out as the best player of the roster with the two Owings brothers sharing the limelight. James played a fine game during his brief stay on the field. Kersh goes through center for touchdown. Ballew tries for dropkick but is blocked by Meredith. Troup 6 and Longview 0 in first 7 minutes of game. W. Foster kicks for Troup to Boring on 30-yard line. He is stopped on 42-yard line. Meredith hits tackle for 7 yards. Meredith makes 5 yards off tackle for first down. Reese goes around right end for 15 yards and another first down. Reese starts around right end but fumbles and Jones for Troup recovers on Troup's 30 yard line. To open the second quarter, Kersh fumbles, loses 3 yards. W. Foster makes 2 yards off tackle. W. Foster punts to Troup 42-yard line. Boring makes 4 yards around left. Meredith hits tackle for 5 yards. Meredith goes over tackle for 4 yards and first down. Troup off sides and penalized 5 yards. Meredith goes through center for 7 yards and first down. Meredith goes over tackle for three yards. Meredoth goes over tackle for touchdown. Meredith place kicks but fails to make the point. Mills makes half yard at end. Meredith makes 5 yards around left end. Meredith makes yard off tackle and ball goes over to Troup on their 10-yard line. Mills breaks through the line and stops W. Foster with a 7-yard loss. Kersh gains 2 yards through line but Longview is off sides and penalized 5 yards. W. Foster gains one yard through the line. Kersh makes it 4 yards around right end for first down. Ballew tries the line but fails. Kersh loses 4 yards on end run. W. Foster makes 3 yards around rigt end. Fourth down and 6 to go. W.
