LOBOS TAME STALLIONS, 41-7
LONGVIEW - Longview's defense pitched a 46-minute shutout and the offense answered the call once again Friday night at Lobo Stadium.

With two forced turnovers on downs and two interceptions, Longview built a 24-0 lead at halftime en route to a 41-7 win over North Mesquite in District 11-6A action.

Longview moves to 6-1 overall on the season and 3-1 in District 11-6A play. North Mesquite falls to 3-4 on the year and 1-3 in district action.

With interceptions from Jalen Carr, his fourth in the past two games, and Davotrick Dotrey, Longview kept North Mesquite scoreless in the first half, enabling the Lobo offense to take advantage of a short field.

"We got it adjusted and started to get some negative plays and get them off schedule," Longview head coach John King said. "They came in and did something a little different than we had seen and tried to milk the clock.

"The defense did a good job of coming up with some stops and getting us on the plus-side of the field several times."

Haynes King had two first-half touchdown passes, both to tight end Jaylin Brown, and four receivers had at least two catches in a 179-yard passing night for the Lobos.

Kamden Perry had four catches for 59 yards and A'Darius Carter hauled in four passes for 31 yards.

On the ground, Longview, which had 40 yards on 10 carries at halftime, finished with 160 rushing yards on 27 carries.

Keilyn Williams had a four-yard score, Carter added a one-yard punch in and Nigel Foster had a late 36-yard touchdown run on the ground.

Chris Kessler opened scoring with a 44-yard field goal and JK Martin tacked on a 33-yard score in the fourth quarter.

Defensively, Dotrey add a forced fumble ,which was scooped up by JC Blakemore. Luther Williams, Jephaniah Lister and Kyle Johnson added key tackles against the Stallions, who finished 3-for-11 on third down and 1-for-4 on fourth-down conversion attempts.

Dotrey's hit and Blakemore's recovery on the Stallions' first punt attempt set up the Lobos at the plus-45, which resulted in Kessler's 44-yard kick.

After a North Mesquite punt, King hit Carter for 15 yards, setting up a 12-yard bullet to Brown for a 10-0 Longview lead after the first quarter.

Lister registered a tackle for loss on fourth down, setting up a six-play 79-yard drive with King hitting Brown again, this time for a 27-yard score.

After Carr's interception and return, King and Perry connected for 25 yards and Williams followed up a 16-yard run with a four-yard score for a 24-0 Longview lead at halftime.

Carter capped a 13-play, 56-yard drive with a one-yard punch-in late in the third quarter.

North Mesquite got on the board with a 48-yard catch and run, ending the Lobos' shutout bid with 1:50 left in the game.

Foster broke a 36-yard run with 1:05 left for the 41-7 Longview win.

Longview hits the road to Rose Stadium to take on John Tyler on Friday. The Lions moved to 3-1 in 11-6A play elsewhere Friday night, handing Rockwall-Heath its first district loss of the season, 37-33.
