GRAND FINALE: LONGVIEW DOMINATES SKEETERS
LONGVIEW - Through the air and on the ground, Longview closed out its regular-season slate in dominating fashion.

Credit the Lobo defense for the strong showing as well.

Longview scored on all nine of its possessions and the Lobo defense pitched a three-quarter shutout in a 62-7 thumping of Mesquite on Friday night at Lobo Stadium.

With the win, Longview closes the regular season at 8-2 overall, including a 6-1 mark in District 11-6A action, lifting the Lobos to a share of the district title with John Tyler.

Now, with the Lions' win over Tyler Lee on Friday night, the Lobos will take the Division II second seed out of 11-6A and hit the road to Beaumont West Brook for its bi-district contest, set for Friday night. John Tyler claims the top seed and will open the playoffs at home against Lufkin.

Quarterback Gaylon Wiley hit a trifecta in a 28-point second quarter for the Lobos. The senior finished with 209 passing yards and three touchdowns, two going to tight end Jaylin Brown and the final going to Sophomore Kamden Perry.

It was running back by committee for the Lobos, who unleashed 11 different running backs on the Skeeters with five different backs hitting paydirt.

Kendrevian White scored twice, Sophomore Jessie Anderson ripped a 57-yard run and Jaquan Edwards, Jason Roundtree and A'Darius Carter all notched second-half scores on the ground for a 340-yard rushing night overall.

Meanwhile the Lobo defense held Mesquite to a lone first-quarter touchdown and forced five three-and-outs overall. The Skeeters totaled 150 yards of totaloffense on the night, 87 of which came in the first quarter.

Kyle Johnson notched a third-down sack on Mesquite's opening possession to force a punt. Longview converted three third downs on its opening drive, the final coming on White's five-yard score for a quick 7-0 Longview lead.

In total, the Lobos finished 7-for-10 on third down and 3-for-3 on fourth down.

Mesquite marched on its second possession, going 75 yards on 12 plays with Anthony Tennison hitting a wide-open Carlos Aguilar with 58 seconds left in the opening stanza for a 7-7 tie after the first quarter.

The rest was all Longview.

White punched in his 16th touchdown run of the season on the Lobos' second drive and Longview's defense forced its first three-and-out on the next Skeeter possession.

Wiley converted a third down, Trajan Bush trucked for a fourth-down conversion, setting up Brown's first touchdown pass of the night from seven yards away.

Quickly, Longview was back on offense with Wiley finding Perry for a 42-yard score, the Sophomore's first touchdown reception of the season.

With 26 seconds left in the opening half, Wiley and Brown connected again on a 25-yard score. On the season, the junior tight end has 14 catches with nine ending with Lobo touchdowns.

Up 35-7 at halftime, Anderson bulled for a 57-yard score up the middle on the third play of the second half.

From there, Anderson, Carter and Edwards all capped long Lobo drives to send the Lobos into the postseason and its 30 seniors honored pregame out with a win in their final game at Lobo Stadium.
