LOBOS STEAMROLL TIGERS 51-0 IN RAIN
MOUNT PLEASANT - Tylan Miller took the first snap of the contest 20 yards for the Lobos on Friday night.

That started a rushing barrage as five different Lobos notched rushing touchdowns while Longview steamrolled Mount Pleasant 51-0 at Sam Parker Field in Mount Pleasant.

The contest featured nine passing attempts in a game that last just shy of two hours.

With the win, Longview improves to 6-2 on the season and 4-1 in District 15-5A action. Mount Pleasant falls to 2-6 on the season and 2-3 in the district loop.

Braylynn Anthony led the charge for the Lobos with 92 rushing yards - the most of 10 different ball carriers for the Lobos on Friday night.

Miller rushed for 46 yards on six carries in his first start in three weeks as he returns from an injury. D'Crayvan Polk totaled 46 yards, Tyler Buchanan-Anderson added 45 and Austin Moore followed with 22 yards. Buchanan-Anderson and Moore notched touchdown runs of five and two yards, respectively. Anthony added an 11-yard score and wide receiver Jon Sorey tacked on a four-yard scoring run on a sweep. Quarterback Michael Ross totaled 33 yards on two carries.

Senior kicker Cody Jenkins connected on a 32-yard field goal and was five-for-five on point-after attempts in the first half.

Defensively, the Lobos held Mount Pleasant to 53 total yards, 51 coming on the ground on 36 attempts for 1.4 yard per carry average.

Getting in on the scoring action was Josh Johnson and Keenan Madden, who both returned fumbles to paydirt. Standouts defensively for the Lobos were Ja'Quavion Faggans, Trevor Allison and Jakari Blakemore.

Miller took the first snap of the contest 20 yards, Ross followed with a 19-yard keeper, Polk added a 20-yard run before Sorey took a sweep around the outside for a four-yard score to put Longview up 7-0 on the opening drive.

Mount Pleasant responded with its largest drive of the night, marching 48 yards on 12 plays - chewing up seven minutes off the clock - before stalling at the Lobo 28. The snap on a 45-yard field goal attempt sailed over the holder's head to set Longview up at its own 49-yard line.

Moore's five-yard run put the Lobos up 14-0 and after a 34-yard punt return from Travian Clayborn, the Lobos went up 21-0 on a five-yard score from Miller.

Longview's next possession ended with a fumble through the end zone for a touchback.

After forcing its third-straight three-and-out and a five-yard punt from the Tigers, Jenkins pushed Longview's lead to 24-0 with a 32-yard field goal.

Then the Lobo defense got in on the scoring action.

After picking up a first down for the first time since late in the first quarter, Johnson scooped a fumble and took it 44 yards to the house.

The result was the same on the Tigers' next snap with Madden picking up a fumbled snap and taking it 15 yards to paydirt for the second Lobo defensive score in 16 seconds off the play clock for a 38-0 lead at halftime.

Anthony added a seven-yard score late in the third and Buchanan-Anderson tacked on the final Lobo score inside the contest's final minute of a two-yard punch in.

Longview returns home to host Sulphur Springs next while Mount Pleasant visits Marshall.
