LOBOS ROLL PAST HEATH, 42-10
ROCKWALL - Rockwall-Heath's first two punt attempts didn't go the Hawks way Friday night.

Then Travin Howard made them pay on their third.

Longview took advantage of two early special team blunders and Howard returned a punt 89 yards to the house as Longview built a 21-0 first-quarter lead and rolled to a 42-10 win at Wilkerson-Sanders Memorial Stadium in Rockwall.

With the win, Longview improves to 5-1 on the season, including a 2-0 start in District 12-5A action.

JaMycal Hasty finished with three touchdown runs, Dezmond Chumley hit Chris Pellum for a 60-yard scoring strike and Marquies Hunter added a 38-yard scoring blast for Longview.

The Lobo defense forced a quick three-and-out from the Hawks when the snap sailed over the punters' head, setting the Lobos up at the Heath 15-yard line for its first possession. Hasty capitalized on fourth and goal with a one-yard score.

Heath gained a pair of first downs before Trey Lanier broke through the line for a sack, forcing the Hawks to punt the ball away again.

The result was the same.

Longview took over at the Hawk 32-yard line before Chumley found Pellum for a 31-yard catch, moving the Lobos to the one-yard line. Hasty then took it for this second touchdown of the first quarter to give Longview a quick 14-0 lead.

The Hawks were able to get its third punt off the night off. The problem, however, was who was on the other end.

Howard fielded the punt at the Lobo 19-yard line before breaking a tackle and taking it 89 yards to pay dirt for the Lobos' second score in just over a minute off the clock. It was the senior safety's third score in the past three games after returning a pair of interceptions to the end zone in the Lobos' previous two contests. Howard also broke up a pair of passes Friday night.

While the Lobos were being opportunistic, they were also efficient, building a 28-3 halftime lead on 15 offensive snaps, averaging 10 yards per play.

Pellum and Jeremy Powell each had 15-yard blasts on the Lobos' third possession before Hasty broke off an impressive 45-yard scoring run up the middle with 2:38 left in the second quarter.

Hasty added a 19-yard run on the Lobos second possession of the second half before Chumley and Pellum connected again in the flat. Pellum - who finished with three catches for 102 yards - broke back across the field and hustled past the Heath defense for a 60-yard score, pushing Longview's lead to 35-3 early in the third quarter.

Marquies Hunter capped a five-play, 86-yard march, barreling for a 38-yard score to give Longview a commanding 42-3 lead with 10:53 left to play.

Third-string quarterback RJ Williams connected with Jake Fisher for an 89-yard touchdown toss with 10:17 to play for the Hawks' lone touchdown of the night.

Longview returns to Lobo Stadium next week hosting Mesquite Horn (6-1, 1-1), who fell to Mesquite, 31-17 on Friday night. Rockwall-Heath is idle.
