WHITE, LOBOS RUN OVER JESUIT IN AREA ROUND
RICHARDSON - Tory White rushed for 227 yards during Longview's four-game winning streak entering its area playoff game.

The senior ran for a career-high 240 yards and three touchdowns in the first half on Saturday before leaving the game with a collarbone injury.

His big night included a 99-yard touchdown and led the Lobos to a 57-25 win over Dallas Jesuit in a 5A Division II Region II playoff game at Wildcat-Ram Stadium.

"The offensive line played well and the backs did a good job getting yards after contact," Longview coach John King said. "Our speed helped. Tory breaking the 99-yard run kind of broke their back. They just don't see our style of football too often. We were able to do some things we hoped we could do and do it effectively all night."

The game was back-and-forth in the first half and Jesuit led three times, but Longview scored 30 unanswered points after falling behind 19-14 to put the game out of reach.

The Lobos (9-3) finished with a season-high 563 yards of offense, including 457 rushing yards in the win.

Sophomore running back JaMycal Hasty ran for a career-high 102 yards on 16 carries, much of it after White left the game after a 35-yard run on the final drive of the first half. Fullback Antonius Sanders had 68 yards and a touchdown, while senior Damion Russell had 44 yards and a touchdown.

"They're good running backs," King said. "We're deep at that spot and that's a good problem to have. The thing I'm most impressed with about Damion is how unselfish he is. He did a lot of great things. JaMycal had some good runs. Cramped up and will have to do a better job taking care of himself. Antonius did a great job catching the ball, blocking.

"Pleased with all those guys."

White fell hard on his final carry and didn't return. His 1,228 rushing yards lead the Lobos this season.

Jesuit (9-3) kept pace with Longview early, leading 3-0 and 10-7. White's 99-yard touchdown run gave the Lobos a 14-10 lead late in the first quarter.

But the Rangers answered back and quarterback Jack Brezette found Texas commit Jake Oliver for a 20-yard score to give them a 19-14 lead after a failed two-point conversion.

Oliver finished with 13 catches for 172 yards and two touchdowns, but had little help from his teammates.

"He's a tough character," King said. "He took a couple shots, but he's a great player."

Longview took control of the game before halftime, scoring on Dezmond Chumley's 3-yard pass to Dorian Leonard, a 37-yard touchdown run by White and Andres Perez' 31-yard field goal.

The onslaught didn't stop in the third quarter. Hasty carried the load for much of the quarter and pushed the Lobos' lead to 37-19 on a 2-yard run.

Chumley found tight end Colin Jeter for a 23-yard touchdown on the next drive, the Lobos' fifth consecutive possession with a score.

Jesuit finished with 341 yards of offense, but had three consecutive three-and-outs during the Lobos 30-0 run. The Rangers were also stopped on fourth down several times and settled for field goals twice.

Brezette finished 20 of 42 and had to deal with a heavy Longview pass rush all game long.

"We mixed up some four-man stuff and had a three-man line," King said. "We did a good job pressuring the quarterback. I was upset we lost contain a couple times, but they had some batted balls, got pressure on him and didn't let him get comfortable."

Longview will play Austin Westlake (8-4) in a 5A Division II Region II semifinal next Saturday at 4 p.m. at Midlothian's MISD Multi-Purpose Stadium.
